REST IN PEACE RITAH KAGGWA 1982 - 2015
RITAH KAGGWA'S OBITUARY
Ritah Kaggwa died on 8th August 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kampala Uganda. She died at the age of 33.The cause of death was suicide resulting from a love relationship failure with her husband.
Ritah Kaggwa, the youngest of five children, and was born on March 29th, 1982 in Kampala, Uganda. Ritah attended Kawempe Primary School for her primary Education and St. Catherine's Secondary School for both her ‘O’and ‘A’ levels. From there, she went to Makerere University where she graduated with Bachelors of Social Works and Social Administration.
In 2007, Ritah worked with Uganda Women Rights Association as a Programs manager. In 2009, she moved to the United Kingdom where she has been living till May 2015 when she relocated back to Kampala, Uganda, after having misunderstandings with her husband.
While in the UK, Ritah worked alongside her sister Namusisi Jane for 5 years mainly as a writer for the popular London Evening Post magazine.
Ritah was celebrated for her curious and loving spirit, as well as her warmth, sensitivity and sense of humor. She was a superb writer and wonderful mother. She made many of her children's clothes, and always sent them to school with a homemade lunch.
Two nights before her death, Ritah prepared dinner for her three children and two brothers. It was a beautiful dinner, full of laughter. After dinner, she received a call from her husband telling her how their relationship was over. Ritah was completely heartbroken as she didn’t expect such a statement from the love of her life.
The next morning, Ritah was found lying helplessly on the floor of her living room. She was quickly rushed to St. Mary’s hospital Kampala and doctors discovered that she had taken a very deadly poison. Doctors did everything possible to save her life but it was too late. A few hours later, Ritah died. She was buried on 11th August 2015 at her ancestral land in Kampala.
A memorial service for Ritah is slated for 10th November 2015 at Roman Catholic Church Kampala at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Roman Catholic Kampala.
